In this webinar, the Health Policy Institute presented an overview of the changing dentist workforce using 2021 data on the supply of dentists, demographic trends in the workforce, and shifts happening in the dental practice model. Some key highlights include that 2021 saw a bump in retirement rates among older dentists, but this was still more than compensated for by new graduate numbers. The dentist workforce continues to get younger, with a higher share of women dentists as well. The data also show an acceleration in the shift away from solo practice.
