Course Description

Learn to integrate botulinum toxin procedures (Botox), dermal fillers and trigger point therapy procedures into your practice immediately and produce better therapeutic and esthetic patient treatment outcomes than ever before! In each of these three courses, you will learn proper evaluation, treatment planning, dosing, documentation and injection techniques while working on live patients under the guidance of the outstanding AAFE faculty. Whether you take one course or all three, you will be prepared to offer these desirable services when you return to the office on Monday!

After you register, you will receive email confirmation that links to the Prepare On-Demand Module, which includes the lecture, video and didactic portions of this course using the AAFE state-of-the-art online education portal. The Prepare On-Demand Modules must be completed as a prerequisite to taking the Live Patient Module of this training course.

Level I Botulinum Toxin Live Patient Training, Day 1, 8 a.m.–Noon

Course Outline:
  • Patient assessment and consultation for botulinum toxin
  • Indications and contraindications for botulinum toxin
  • Comprehensive instruction in the relevant anatomy, neurophysiology, musculature and circulatory system of the oral and maxillofacial areas
  • Patient evaluation for the best dental and facial esthetic and therapeutic results
  • Sterile technique for the use of injectable pharmacologic agents
  • Review safety and risk issues for botulinum toxin injectable therapy
  • In-depth education on the physiology and pharmacology of oral and maxillofacial injectable treatment
  • Integration of botulinum neurotoxin into therapeutic and esthetic treatment plans
  • The latest treatment techniques including anatomical muscle sites, muscle depths, proper preparation and dilution for the best oral and maxillofacial therapeutic and esthetic outcomes
  • Botulinum toxin therapeutic treatment for bruxism to relieve TMJ syndrome
  • Best practices to avoid, manage and treat possible adverse reactions and complications
  • Live patient treatment including comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, proper dosing and delivery of botulinum neurotoxin
  • Correct fee structures for oral and maxillofacial injectable treatment
  • All necessary office forms, treatment forms and informed consents required for treating patients immediately will be provided

Level I Dermal Fillers Live Patient Training, Day 1, 1–5 p.m.

  • Patient assessment and consultation for dermal filler therapy
  • Indications and contraindications for dermal fillers
  • Patient anatomy and evaluation for the best dental and facial esthetic and therapeutic results
  • Sterile technique for the use of injectable dermal fillers
  • Review of safety and risk issues for dermal fillers injectable therapy
  • In-depth education on the physiology and pharmacology of oral and maxillofacial injectable treatment
  • Integration of dermal filler therapy into therapeutic and esthetic treatment plans
  • Volumizing nasolabial folds, marionette lines and lifting up the corners of the mouth using anatomical landmarks
  • Guidance on how to create beautiful and subtle lip enhancements by increasing volume to establish proper lip and smile lines
  • Best practices to avoid, manage and treat possible adverse reactions and complications
  • Live patient treatment including comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, proper dosing and delivery of dermal fillers
  • Fee structures for oral and maxillofacial injectable treatment
  • All necessary office forms, treatment forms and informed consents required for treating patients immediately will be provided

Frontline TMJ and Orofacial Pain Trigger Point Live Patient Training, Day 2, 8 a.m.–Noon

Course Outline:
  • How to quickly recognize and diagnose TMJ and orofacial pain
  • Review of the relevant anatomy, neurophysiology, musculature and circulatory system of the oral and maxillofacial areas
  • Comprehensive instruction for patient examination and evaluation including a neurological exam and a thorough head and neck muscle examination
  • Understanding of the real role of occlusion in orofacial pain
  • Source of TMJ and orofacial pain
  • Trigger point injections—precisely identify and inject trigger points for instant and long-term pain relief
  • Understanding when to use different chemotherapeutics such as sterile saline, lidocaine and botulinum toxin for differential diagnosis, pain management and the best short-term and long-term successful therapeutic outcomes
  • Knowing when to treat and when to refer orofacial pain patients
  • Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning for TMJ syndrome, headaches and orofacial pain patients
  • Live patient treatment including comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, proper dosing and delivery of trigger point therapy
  • Fee structures for oral and maxillofacial injectable trigger point treatment
  • All necessary office forms, treatment forms, and informed consents required for treating patients immediately will be provided
