Call for Comment: Antibiotic prophylaxis recommendations for healthy patients undergoing dental implant placement surgery

The ADA Living Guideline Program is now accepting comments on the first recommendation in a three-part series for the Living Evidence-Informed Guideline on Antibiotic Prophylaxis for Surgical Procedures Related to Dental Implant Placement. Clinicians, patients, and organizations are invited to share their insights and feedback to help shape the continuing development of this guideline.

About the recommendation

This new recommendation focusing on antibiotic prophylaxis for healthy patients undergoing dental implant placement surgery is part of the ADA Living Guideline Program in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (Penn Dental Medicine).

Feedback will be reviewed and used to inform the first antibiotic prophylaxis for dental implants recommendation, which is expected to publish in Winter of 2026.
