UCSF dental school earns 2012 ADA Foundation Tarrson Award

University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry has won the 2012 ADA Foundation Bud Tarrson Dental School Student Community Leadership Award.

The award of $5,000 is to support the UCSF Community Dental Clinic, which is student-run and addresses health care disparities in San Francisco with free dental services to underserved individuals. The clinic emphasizes dental health education and restorative care.

The Tarrson Award is named in memory of Mr. E. "Bud" Tarrson, longtime owner of the former Butler Toothbrush Co. and an oral health care advocate and philanthropist.

A future ADA News story will feature more details about the 2012 Tarrson winner.
