Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the new procedure to
log on to Member Only content?
When you visit Member Only content for the first time during each
session you will be prompted with a gray
box asking you to enter your User Name (i.e.,

What if I’m
still having trouble logging on?
If you are still having a problem logging on to the Member Only
portion of the ADA website and believe you are entering the correct
password please review the following tips:
Internet Explorer Users:
- Check the version of Internet Explorer
you are using.
- Click on the word
Help (displayed immediately below
the blue title bar of Internet Explorer.)
- Click on About Internet Explorer. The
Internet Explorer logo will be displayed
with the version number listed below.
The ADA Web site, for security reasons,
can be accessed only by versions of Internet
Explorer that are version 5.5 or higher.
If your version is 5.0 (or earlier) a
free upgrade is available at Microsoft’s website: www.microsoft.com
.
- Go to the download portion of their
site and follow the online
instructions for downloading and installing the
upgrade.
- Return to www.ada.org and
repeat the member logon process.
Windows XP Users
- If you have Internet Explorer
5.5 or higher, check the operating
system you are currently using. If it is Windows
XP (Home or Professional) it has
a built-in security feature that blocks the authentication “cookie” the
ADA Web site uses to log you in.
- In order
to log on to ADA.org, click Tools
on your Internet Explorer menu and select Internet
Options.
- Select the Privacy tab and
click Advanced.
- Check the button next to
Accept under Third Party Cookies
- Click
Apply and OK then close Internet
Explorer.
- Re-launch the Internet Explorer and return
to www.ada.org to complete the log
on process.
AOL Users:
- Please contact AOL for a current version
of the AOL browser and information
on cookie blocking settings. Also it is
possible to minimize the AOL browser window and use
Internet Explorer to browse the Web instead. We recommend using Internet
Explorer to browse the site for best
results.
Popup
Blockers:
- Some popup blockers are so robust they
will prevent the
ADA.org Log On box from displaying. If
you attempt to visit Member Only
content
and the log on box does not pop up you may need to
disable your popup blocker. Remember that Member Only content is indicated by a small padlock icon.
Firewalls:
- Please be aware that certain personal
firewall software and institutional firewall
software may prevent the authentication process from
completing by blocking third-party cookies. Consult
your personal firewall’s documentation
or contact your systems administrator.
Still are
experiencing problems?
- Please call 800-621-8099
x3553 or 312-440-2500 for additional assistance and/or
password information.
