Manuscript Submissions
The manuscript submission and review process for The Journal of the American Dental Association has gone online with the introduction of JADA Manuscript Central. Using this state-of-the-art system developed in partnership with ScholarOne,
authors and reviewers will receive all correspondence via e-mail and will submit all documents online, securely and confidentially.

What is Manuscript Central?
Manuscript Central, a software application developed by ScholarOne, has been used by hundreds of scientific and technical publications to process manuscript submissions and reviews. It will enable JADA to go completely paperless in its manuscript process, not only saving money for the ADA and its members but also streamlining the time frame from submission to review to publication and simplifying the process for authors and reviewers alike.

How does Manuscript Central work?
Manuscript Central functions completely online. As an author or a reviewer, you’ll receive all communication — including reminders and notification of manuscript status — via e-mail. You’ll submit all documents (whether they be manuscripts, letters, forms or reviews) electronically, with the assurance of security and confidentiality. You’ll save postage costs, paper costs and time by using JADA Manuscript Central.

Can I still submit manuscripts or provide reviews on paper?
There will be a grace period during which JADA will continue to accept hard-copy submissions, but once that period ends, all authors and reviewers will be required to submit their materials exclusively through JADA Manuscript Central.

How do I get started?
If you’re an author with a manuscript now in the JADA review process or a reviewer already on JADA’s rolls, you should have received an e-mail to notify you of the availability of the site and providing you with a user ID and a password so that you can log in to JADA Manuscript Central and start your account. If you don’t fall into either of those categories, simply visit https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jada and choose “Create Account.” You’ll then receive step-by-step instructions for launching your account.
Once you’re into the system, you’ll see a Welcome screen that contains work centers for every JADA role you play — author, reviewer or both.
When you choose your role, you’ll see a control center — called a “dashboard” — from which you can choose the tasks you want to carry out.
