Live Operatory Center

Earn CE on the exhibit floor! Experience the latest technology on the market and how it can enhance you ability to effectively diagnose and treat patients. The Live Operatory Center features:

The CAD/CAM Stage

See how CAD/CAM technology can help you expand your practice with demonstrations from the CEREC system from Sirona Dental Systems, Inc. and the E4D system from Henry Schein Dental. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend a 45-minute presentation from each company that will include a full demonstration of the making of a crown from when the prep is done to the delivery of the crown on a typodont.

  • Presentations repeat every two hours beginning at 8:00am daily (noon on Weds. Oct. 15). The last presentation begins at 4:00pm.
  • Registration for these free presentations is not required for participation.
  • Participants attending the two 45-minute presentations in the CAD/CAM Pavilion will receive 1 CE credit.

The 3-D Imaging Center

Join representatives from six of the leading 3-D imaging manufacturers as they perform 25-minute demonstrations allowing you to compare the functionality of machines and learn how this technology can expand your ability to treat your patients. Dental images collected during these demonstrations will be displayed on multiple flat screen monitors featuring detailed images.

  • Cycle of six consecutive demonstrations repeats every three hours beginning at 8:00am daily (11:00am on Wed., Oct. 15). The last demonstration begins at 2:00pm.
  • Registration for these free demonstrations is not required for participation.
  • Participants attending three of the 25-minute presentations in the 3-D Imaging Center will receive 1 CE credit.

The Laser Pavilion

Be among the first to experience this new laser education model! In partnership with the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), the ADA offers you the opportunity to see, touch and compare various dental lasers in one course. This 45-minute lecture, immediately followed by a 75-minute hands-on workshop, is recommended for the dentist considering purchasing a laser and for the new laser owner.

By attending a course you will learn procedures, techniques and the science including caries removal, cavity preparation, osseous crown lengthening, gingival contouring, coagulation, sulcular debridement and tissue management for final prosthetic impressions.

  • Course repeats every two hours starting at 8:00am daily (noon on Weds. Oct. 15.) The last course begins at 2:00pm. See daily course listings for specific times and course numbers.
  • Registration and a ticket are required for participation. Cost: $95 by 9/12, $115 after 9/12.
  • Participants attending a 2-hour laser pavilion course will receive 1.5 CE credits.

Education in the Round

Discover this new live-patient educational environment. Education in the Round delivers live patient procedures conducted in a fully functional dental operatory, in an interactive format between speaker and attendees. This high-tech learning environment includes images captured on intraoral cameras and displayed on 60-inch flat-screen monitors. More than 2,000 of your colleagues experienced Education in the Round in 2007, its first year. Don’t miss it!

2008 Dental Office Design Competition

Discover what it takes to design an award-winning dental office. Go behind the scenes into the offices of this year’s entries plus the 2007 winners. Learn best practices and get fresh ideas from hands-on exhibits, including floor plans, photos and key project information. Attendees will earn 1 CE credit, total.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 15 Noon – 5:00pm
  • Thursday, Oct. 16 7:30am – 6:00pm
  • Friday, Oct. 17 7:30am – 6:00pm

Announcement of Winners

On Friday, Oct. 17 at 1pm, the winners of the 2008 Dental Office Design Competition will be announced at the 2008 Dental Office Design Competition display on-site.

2009 Dental Office Design Competition

Is your practice a winner? All newly built offices, and offices with leasehold improvements or renovations completed between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008, are eligible to enter the Competition. Entries must be postmarked by July 31, 2009. Winners will be announced at the 2009 ADA Annual Session and featured in a future issue of Dental Economics. 49th Annual ADA/DENTSPLY Student Clinician Research Program

The Student Clinician Research Program (SCADA) is a joint venture between DENTSPLY and the ADA, begun in 1959. The purpose of the program is to recognize and encourage original clinical, public health and or basic science research at the predoctoral level, to stimulate student membership in the ADA and to introduce students to dental society activities.
