Affordable Care Act explained in new ADA CE Online course
Learn more about the Affordable Care Act and how it will affect dentistry in a new CE Online course.
The Affordable Care Act: Implications and Opportunities for Dentistry was authored by Marko Vujicic, Ph.D., managing vice president for the ADA Health Policy Resources Center. Based on new comprehensive research, this free-to-members course summarizes key implications and opportunities for the dental profession.
Specifically, the course highlights important trends in the dental care sector over the past decade; presents new analysis of the implications of the ACA on dental benefits coverage and dental care use; and discusses some of the opportunities for the dental profession in the changing health care environment. The course takes a big-picture approach, focusing on the broad implications for the dental care system.
It does not focus on narrow issues for dentists as a business owner, such as the medical device tax or providing health insurance to employees. It also doesn't cover specific ACA implementation issues, like which states have federally facilitated exchanges or the requirements for being a qualified health plan. Links to this type of information, as well as basic background on the ACA, are provided in the course materials but they are not discussed.
