LSU awarded $1.8 million HIV grant
New Orleans—The Health Resources and Services Administration has awarded $1.8 million to the School of Dentistry at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans to support a program that educates dental and dental hygiene students on caring for patients with HIV and AIDS.
The grant will support Community-Based Dental Partnership for five years with clinical care for HIV positive patients provided at the Community HealthWorx Clinic in Alexandria, La., and at the LSU HIV Outpatient Clinic in New Orleans.
LSU has obtained the competitive grant three times since 2002. The School of Dentistry at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is the only dental school in Louisiana.
