Volunteers sought for Association informatics standards projects
The ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics is seeking volunteers for four work projects:
• Proposed ADA Standard No. 1017 for Administrative Procedures and Their Application in Dentistry. This new standard will be a revision of an earlier technical report that recommends administrative procedures to provide privacy and security of dental practice management systems and electronic patient data in the dental office. It will provide information to assist the dentist in setting personnel policies and procedures for privacy and security.
• Proposed ADA Standard No. 1018 for Technical Security Mechanisms and Application to Dentistry. This new standard will be a revision of an earlier technical report that recommends system protocols and procedures to ensure transmission security to protect the integrity of data sent over the Internet.
• Proposed SCDI White Paper No. 1074 for Clinical Oral Health Risk Assessment Software Programs. The intent of this project is to develop a white paper that will provide the most current information on this emerging technology. The white paper will identify the essential characteristics of software programs intended to provide objective oral disease status and risk assessment.
• Proposed ADA Technical Report No. 1075 for Electronic Orthodontic Laboratory Prescriptions. The intent of this project is to develop a standard electronic form to capture data and information of a doctor’s orthodontic laboratory prescription request and associated patient information.
