Dr. Calnon assumes leadership post at Eastman Institute of Oral Health
Rochester, N.Y.—ADA President William Calnon has been named acting director of Eastman Institute of Oral Health and acting chair of the Department of Dentistry, effective Aug. 1.
In this temporary capacity, he replaces Dr. Cyril Meyerowitz, a past chair of the ADA Council on Dental Education and Licensure, who is stepping down as announced in 2011.
Dr. Calnon is the current chair of the EIOH Board. He is a graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The search for permanent leadership continues on schedule, according to EIOH. Dr. Meyerowitz is relinquishing his leadership role but returns to the faculty to administer his new National Institutes of Health grant, which makes Eastman one of six regional centers in the nation to expand evidence-based dental practice. EIOH will run the northeast region of the newly formed National Dental Practiced-Based Research Network.
