ADA President-Elect’s Interview
Dr. William R. Calnon will be installed as the 148th president of the American Dental Association before the ADA House of Delegates Oct. 14 in Las Vegas.
A native of upstate New York, the Rochester general practitioner began his involvement in organized dentistry through the influence of mentors. His own involvement is a continuum starting with his service at the county and local levels on committees as well as president of the Monroe County Dental Society, the New York State Dental Association’s 7th District and NYSDA president in 2003. He was ADA 2nd District trustee from 2006-10 and was chosen by the 2010 House of Delegates in Orlando, Fla., as ADA president-elect.
At the ADA, he has served on the Strategic Planning Committee, the President’s Committee on Licensure Issues, the Board Committee on Diversity, the Task Force on the Commission on Dental Accreditation, the Future of Health Care/Universal Coverage Task Force, the Council on Dental Practice, the ADABEI Board of Directors and the Give Kids A Smile National Advisory Board.
Dr. Calnon met with ADA News Editor Judy Jakush to discuss his priorities for his coming year as president. The first part of the two-part interview appeared in print in the Sept. 19 ADA News and is posted here. The second part will appear in the Oct. 3 ADA News in print and online.
