ADA launches social media tools at annual session
For the first time, those attending annual session will be able to enjoy ADA social networking, thanks to a new Facebook Group and Twitter feed set up exclusively for ADA members and other dental professionals in Orlando.
The two social media applications were designed to enhance attendee interaction as well as provide instant access and information on exhibits, speakers, continuing education and activities. The Twitter feed will also provide followers with real-time access to the ADA News feed.
"Social media is all about interaction, shared ideas and experiences," said Dr. Carter Brown, member, ADA Council on Communications and chair of the council's social media workgroup. "Since the annual session is our largest gathering to share and learn together, what better venue to begin to roll out our new social media ideas?
"The Social Media Workgroup believes that by adding these new communications tools to the mix available to the ADA, we can give our members new ways to discover and explore all that the ADA has to offer," Dr. Brown added. "Experiences and comments from other members allows for a form of horizontal communication we have not had before. The real-time format is perfect for something as schedule, location and topic driven as a large meeting. It should be fun to find out what others have to share about the meeting."
Both the Facebook and Twitter pages will be available Oct. 4-13. To ensure the pages remain focused on enhancing the experience of all annual session attendees, posts related to ADA policy, elections or matters pertaining to the House of Delegates are prohibited and will be removed from the pages.
To participate in the ADA Session Facebook group, members must have an individual Facebook account and be registered for annual session. To view the Twitter feed it's necessary to have a Twitter account.
