Orlando, Fla.—Those who can't attend the annual session in Orlando Oct. 9-12 can still take advantage of live patient education.
Every ADA member can experience this year's Education in the Round live patient continuing education courses, either by attending them in person at annual session or by logging on via an Internet-connected computer.
|Live CE: Drs. Jorge Ramirez and Steve Ratcliff perform a live-patient implant procedure Oct. 2, 2009, at the Hawaii Convention Center. The course, Implants for the Terminal Dentition: Yes, You Can Do It!, was broadcast via webcast to 37 North American dental schools.|
Viewers can log on to www.ADA365.org and click on the EIR link beginning with the start of the first course, Managing the Periodontal Patient with Advanced Ultrasonic and Laser Therapy by Dr. Samuel Low, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. EST.
The six 2010 EIR courses will be simulcast live and also will be available as webcasts that can be viewed for free for 30 days after annual session (through Nov. 8).
EIR participants attending annual session view live-patient procedures in a fully functional dental operatory through live, high-definition video images and interact with speakers during the courses. In 2009, more than 800 participants attended six different courses.
In a pilot program last year, EIR webcasts were made available to students and faculty at 43 North American dental schools.
This year, the ADA will not only expand the program to all member dentists, it will also offer viewers a chance to earn continuing education credit by taking a test on ADA CE Online, www.adaceonline.org. (There is a nominal fee for taking the test.)
Viewing members will also receive a $20 discount on an EIR course during the 2011 annual session in Las Vegas.
