Retirement, risk management seminars await in Orlando
Orlando, Fla.—What better place than Florida to start thinking about retirement? And what better place to discuss a team approach to risk management than among thousands of your colleagues?
|Dr. John Vaselaney|
The ADA Council on Members Insurance and Retirement Programs invites dentists to register for three seminars it will present at annual session in Orlando in October. The seminars are designed to educate members on estate planning, retirement planning and professional liability risk management.
"We hope members take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn how to plan for their future," said Dr. Larry Browder, CMIRP chair. "It's an opportunity to analyze your financial and risk management goals and meet with the experts who can help you learn how to reach them."
The seminars include:
- Your Estate Plan: What State is it In? (course 6301), Sunday, Oct. 10, 8-10:30 a.m.—Using real-life examples and expert tips, this crash course can help members begin or refine their estate plans and avoid common mistakes that could threaten their intended goals. Stephen P. Rickles, J.D., a nationally recognized estate planning attorney with the Denver law firm of Berenbaum, Weinshienk & Eason, P.C., will talk about how the failure of Congress to address the estate tax affects dentists; critical steps to creating and executing an effective plan; state-by-state rules and regulations on inheritance taxes, probate and community property; and how to hire the right tax and estate planning attorney.
Advance registration is required for the free seminar. Go online at www.ada.org and look for the annual session course 6301. Members who are unable to attend can request the Estate Planning Kit by calling 1-866-607-5330 or clicking "Resources" at www.insurance.ada.org.
- Retirement Plan and Investment Update (course 5301), Saturday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—Attendees will benefit from the knowledge brought to this course by AXA Equitable employees and others familiar with retirement plans. This course will help members understand the latest trends and changes impacting dentists' retirement plans; utilize insights on market and economic trends from investment portfolio managers; and gain insight into portfolio management styles and strategies employed.
Presenters include Mark P. Miller, longtime AXA Equitable executive and current client and relationship manager; Walt Czaicki, vice president and senior portfolio manager on the AllianceBernstein Blend Strategies team; Kenneth T. Kozlowski, vice president of AXA Equitable's Funds Management Group; and John Schilt, vice president of the relationship team for AXA Equitable’s Funds Management Group.
- Risk Management: The Team Approach (course 7302), Monday, Oct. 11, 8-10:30 a.m.—This course will educate dentists on the importance of the entire dental team in managing risk. It will emphasize their legal responsibility for patient care; the staff’s role in different types of claims; insurance issues and other practice responsibilities; and managing risk through communication and documentation.
