AADB meeting to offer session on dental simulation
Orlando, Fla.—The American Association of Dental Boards' annual meeting takes place at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel here Oct. 7-8.
The program features critical updates from AADB representatives to the ADA Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations, the Commission on Dental Accreditation, the Joint Subcommittee on Ethics and Integrity in Dental Education and Practice, and the Council on Dental Education and Licensure.
In light of 2009 ADA House of Delegates actions, a special session at this year's meeting features the advances in dental simulation. In 2009, the House considered Resolution 26S-1, which called for the ADA to study the possibility of developing a new clinical licensure examination that would evaluate clinical competency, ethics and professionalism without the use of human subjects. Resolution 26S-1 was referred to a Board of Trustees workgroup for further study and report to the 2010 House.
Two dental simulation companies, Image Navigation Ltd. and Planmeca, will be on hand Friday, Oct. 8, to discuss the latest advances in simulation software, equipment and techniques. There is a special registration rate of $200 for those attending only the simulation portion of the meeting.
Go to www.dentalboards.org to register and make hotel reservations. Hotel rooms are available at the ADA special rate and can be reserved through the link on AADB's website. The hotel password is AADBORL.
