OVERVIEW: The ADA and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (Penn Dental Medicine) are updating a guideline on the early detection of potentially malignant disorders (PMDs) and oral cancer, last published in 2017.
- The first draft recommendations for the early detection of PMDs and oral cancer with cytology adjuncts for this update are available and open for public comment.
- The public comment period allows clinicians, patients and organizations to participate in the living guideline recommendation process. Feedback will be reviewed and used to inform the recommendations, which is expected for release later this year.
